AgnosticAA.org has no authority or affiliation with the Alcoholics Anonymous official organization, any individual club or group. The founder and some contributors are self-declared members of AA. Some contributors may have no affiliations to anything but their own sobriety. All opinions expressed on this website are the individual contributor(s). You are free to agree, disagree, dismiss, ignore or utilize as you choose. It's your sobriety, not ours. The entirety of our mission is to provide a space for secular people to have a voice within the much larger AA community. In short, we find value in the 12 step approach to sobriety and life without claiming any sort of divinity or higher power. We do find strength, power and purpose by practicing the principles of AA and associating with like minded people. We also reject the cultish, dogmatic and often abusive qualities of traditional AA. If you like being told, "Take the cotton our of your mouth, stick it in your ears and shut up", have fun with that. Everyone has their kink. We prefer to listen and share our experience practicing the "12 steps" in our daily lives and encourage each other to stay sober in a drunk world. With that said, we wish you a sober day, odaat (one day at a time).
"Certainly none are more sensitive to spiritual cocksureness, pride, and aggression than they (non-believers) are. I’m sure this is something we often forget. In AA's first years I all but ruined the whole undertaking with this sort of unconscious arrogance. God as I understood Him had to be for everybody. Sometimes my aggression was subtle and sometimes it was crude. But either way it was damaging - perhaps fatally so - to numbers of non-believers. "
